CP-Project
1. PIUS - The Creation
The project covers the construction and continuous updating/maintenance of a web page concerning the activities of partners involved in the area of cleaner production (PIUS). An information platform in the internet will be created by PIUS which enables access to proven measures regarding environmentally protective and cost saving production. It is up-to-date, user-friendly and free of charge. This funded information has been put together by associations, businesses and governmental departments. They illustrate an optimal extension of the web pages of the government department for the environment regarding innovative environmental technology in Germany, in that many PIUS projects in businesses are shown. 2. PIUS - The Contents
The core of the PIUS-Internet-Forum is the "Information-Pool" in which concise know how regarding cleaner production are available in the form of project reports, industry manuals, catalogues, practical information, software, conference manuscripts and literature lists for businesses. Currently, the already wide-ranging information pool comprises more than 500 documents (60 in the english version) which are continually being expanded. Some examples of the wide-ranging subject spectrum are:

Industrial sectors: Printers, paint plants, surface finishing, garages, surface cleaners amongst others |

Materials: Dissolving agents, cooling lubricants, photographic chemicals |

Areas: Environmental management and environmental software |
In addition to this, the PIUS web pages also offer interactive elements e.g. an expert forum for specialist information exchange, a wide ranging, online ordering service and a calendar of events for nationwide seminars and conferences taking place.
3. PIUS - The Initiators
The following partners from five German states have created the existing Internet-Forum and contributed to the PIUS information

Collaboration with associations in the same field on a local and national basis, |

4. PIUS - The Target Groups
The main target groups are small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), that require direct and usable information from their particular area of business. Additionally, multipliers such as innovation centres, associations, government departments, consulting agencies as well as research institutes can be found under www.pius-info.de a valuable information and communication platform. 5. PIUS - The Funding
 The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), in Osnabrück supported the CP-Project over two years (from 08.99 to 07.01) with a contribution of 50%. The additional costs were carried by the initiators themselves. Since the end of the launch project, the PIUS-Internet-Portal has been funded by three co-operating German states.
6. PIUS - The Branch
 In September 2001, the tasks of the newly created PlUS-Internet-Portal were transferred to the partner Die Effizienz-Agentur Nordrhein-Westfalen (EFA NRW). Therefore, the EFA is on hand as the central contact partner to answer any questions regarding the web site and represents the interests of the partners to third parties. In addition to this, the Webmaster is located here.
7. PIUS - The Further Development
The offer is constantly updated and extended with new subjects. Through the acquisition of new partners, the PIUS-Internet-Portal will become more widely recognised. Features, such as the Expert Forum, will be enhanced in order to enable an effective knowledge transfer to the target group (SMEs and tradesmen). |
