PIUS-Check in galvanizing and surface technology

Detailed description

Historisches Logo der Fa. Brenscheidt
The Otto Brenscheidt GmbH & CO. KG company has been manufacturing galvanized wire and metal strips in the Sauerland region for over 85 years.

Nickel-plated, silver-plated, tin-plated, copper-plated and gold-plated wire and metal strips are manufactured in their ISO 9001:2000 certified specialised factory. The family run business has invested €15,000, based on the findings of the PIUS-Scheck, in an additional 15KW cooling aggregate in order to improve the temperature management of the coolant. In the current induction system, organic components are removed and the metal's surface is altered via a smelting process. Through the optimization of the coolant cycle, Brenscheidt is currently saving €14,000 per year on its fresh water expenses. Through this, the amount invested, although the electricity costs increased due to the cooling aggregate, were amortized within 18 months. The waste heat in the system is used to heat the factory floor.

Transferability to other SMEs

Making rain water usable, in particular in the surface refining sector with its ever increasing fresh water costs, is growing in relevance. Company specific conditions are significant for the transferability.
